Police Property Act Fund
The Police Property Act Fund provides small grants to charitable and voluntary organisations delivering projects that benefit communities in Kent and support the priorities of the Kent Police and Crime Plan: Cut Crime, Support Victims and Build Trust.
The fund is generated from money raised through the sale of eligible property which has come into police possession. This money can be used by the Police and Crime Commissioner to make grants for charitable purposes.
Each Police Property Act Fund funding round is tailored to a specific theme. Organisations are advised to check the theme and eligibility criteria for the current round before applying.
Autumn/Winter 2026 funding round
Applications open: 1 October 2026
Applications close: 30 October 2026
Maximum grant: £2,000
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are a:
- micro or small registered charity
- social enterprise
- constituted group
- Community Interest Company (CIC)
- other not-for-profit group with a written constitution or other governing document explaining your aims and how your organisation is run
Your organisation must have an income of £100,000 or less.
Applications cannot be accepted from statutory services and agencies, including local authorities, parish councils and other public bodies.
Before you apply
For the Autumn/Winter 2026 round, applications will only be accepted for projects supporting Children and young people impacted by crime, anti-social behaviour (ASB), vulnerability or victimisation.
Organisations must also have an income of £100,000 or less to be eligible for this round.
What can the funding support?
Applications can support projects which:
- require start-up or seed funding
- deliver existing projects or interventions
- expand or enhance existing provision
- pilot new approaches
- support innovation
For this funding round, these projects must support children and young people impacted by crime, ASB, vulnerability or victimisation.
What can the grant be spent on?
Funding must directly relate to the delivery of the proposed project.
Eligible costs can include:
- awareness raising
- communications, including promotional materials and digital engagement
- salary costs
- volunteer costs and expenses
- capacity building and training
- venue hire
- technology or ICT costs
- project or intervention materials
- community engagement activities
- participant support
How much can I apply for?
You can apply for a grant of up to £2,000.
If your application is successful, the grant must be spent within 12 months of the award date. Any unspent funding must be returned to the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Can previous recipients apply again?
You cannot apply for funding for the same project if it has already received Police Property Act Fund funding within the last 12 months.
Your organisation can apply for a different project or intervention within that period, but you must explain how the new application differs from the project that previously received funding.
What can't we fund?
The Police Property Act Fund cannot be used for certain expenditure, including:
- capital purchases
- activities which have already taken place
- purchase or maintenance of buildings
- purchase of vehicles
- organisational overhead costs
- donations
- sponsorship
- attendance at events or conferences
- statutory services
- onward financial support such as grants, donations or bursaries
- individual qualifications, accreditation or training
- duplicate funding where the PCC or Violence Reduction Unit is already funding the same project or intervention
- fines, penalties or associated legal costs
- political or exclusively religious activity or ideology
- operational policing costs, including police staff or officer costs, overtime, equipment, training and awareness raising which delivers operational policing activity.

How to apply
Applications for the Autumn/Winter 2026 funding round are open from 1 October until 30 October 2026.
Applications must be made using the application form published on the website while the fund is open.

What happens after I apply?
After the fund closes, applications will go through eligibility checks before eligible applications progress to the panel process.
The timetable for the Autumn/Winter 2026 round is:
1 October 2026 – Fund opens
30 October 2026 – Fund closes
Week commencing 16 November – Applications go to panel
Week commencing 30 November – Panel moderation meeting
By 23 December – Confirmation letters and grant agreements sent
