Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott says he’s very disappointed the government has announced a 4.2% cut in government funding for victim services in Kent.
The Ministry of Justice has informed the PCC of a £2,073,216 funding settlement for 2025/6, which is about £90,000 less than last year.
Matthew Scott says,
“The Minister has written to me to explain that the core victim services funding is being cut by 4.2% next year. This is obviously very concerning given there is an increased demand for support here in Kent, and given the charities providing that support are also being hit by national insurance increases and increases to pay.
Last year this funding helped thousands of victims of crime and I am determined to work with my team to see what the impact will be. I will do everything I can to make sure victims of crime will not suffer as a result.”

NOTE TO EDITORS
The Ministry of Justice has confirmed the core victim funding settlement will be £2,073,216 for 2025/6. Last year the core victim settlement was £2,163,216 so a reduction of 4.2%.
Historically the PCC has matched that funding, to provide a fit-for-purpose victim service provision for Kent.
