1st Sept 2023
Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott, has terminated the PFI contract governing North Kent Police Station on the grounds of contractor default. Termination will bring the building under the direct control of Kent Police.
The PCC and the Force have been in negotiations with the Administrators of the PFI company to try to resolve a range of issues. However, no agreement has been possible and as a last resort, the PCC terminated the PFI contract which came into effect as of 31 August 2023.
[Because of potential on-going legal issues, neither the PCC or Kent Police will be able to comment further at this stage.]
