Safer Streets Fund 1 and 2
These were designed to prevent neighbourhood crimes such as burglary, robbery and theft. Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) in partnership with Local Authorities were able to bid for these opportunities to enable investment in areas, based on LSOA boundaries that are disproportionately affected by neighbourhood crimes. The purpose was to implement both physical and community-based interventions such as improved street lighting, home security, alley gating and CCTV coverage to prevent crime taking place.

Area of Focus: Gillingham (North) Medway
Targeted crime prevention activity within an LSOA in Gillingham North, which included the following
· Removal of fly-tipping and increased waste and recycling collections to improve street scene and deter crime and anti-social behaviour · Installation of CCTV · Graffiti removal and installation of additional street litter bins · Community clean up and planting · Crime prevention equipment and advice on safety / security to residents · Community signposting and referring

Areas of Focus: Ramsgate (Harbour and Town Centre) Canterbury (Whitefriars & John Dane Gardens)
Targeted crime prevention activity within the Whitefriars and John Dane Gardens area of Canterbury which includes the following
· Installation of CCTV · Setting up of a CCTV viewing suite to support Police investigations · Highlighting security risks, bike marking and raising awareness with residents · Creation of a neighbourhood watch scheme · Provision of a range of safety and security advice to residents through a multi partnership approach, community signposting and referring.
Targeted crime prevention activity within the Harbour and Town Centre area of Ramsgate which includes the following
· A range of safety and security advice to residents through a multi partnership approach, community signposting and referring

Safer Streets 3
These were provided to reduce violence against women and girls in neighbourhoods. Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) in partnership with Local Authorities were able to bid for these opportunities to enable investment in specific areas. The purpose was to implement both physical and community-based interventions such as improved street lighting, improved CCTV coverage and provision of devices like personal safety alarms and other security devices.
Safer Streets 3 funding was awarded to Ashford (£548,297) and a detailed breakdown of how that money was spent will appear shortly; and Rochester an Chatham (£193,251) and a detailed breakdown of how that money was spent will appear here shortly.

· Installation of CCTV · Creation of Safe Spaces · Graffiti Removal · Enhancing local amenities to improve the area and deter crime and anti-social behaviour. · Provision of a range of safety and security advice to residents through a multi partnership approach, community signposting and referring. · Digital App for safe routes · Bystander training for the NTE · Personal safety awareness for educational provisions.

· Creation of Safe Spaces · Graffiti Removal and installation of additional street litter bins · Enhancing local amenities to improve the area and deter crime and anti-social behaviour. · Provision of a range of safety and security advice to residents through a multi partnership approach, community signposting and referring. · Waste Removal · Engaging with sex workers regarding their health, personal safety and signposting · Street Pastor recruitment and equipment updates · Extending the shop watch radios · Improved lighting in public spaces · Bus stop lighting improvements · Recycling education · Bystander training for professionals · Bystander training for educational establishments · Improved natural surveillance

Safer Streets Round 4: End September 2023

The bids can be up to £750,000 and the project is running until Sept 2023. The first £500,000.00 needs to be spent in the first year. It focuses on VAWG acquisitive crime and ASB. The PCC can submit 4 bids and the closing date is 13th May 2022 at 12:00.
