Each year the PCC awards a portion of his total commissing budget to Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) and other groups, to support local projects which deliver against the priorities in Safer in Kent: the Community Safety and Criminal Justice Plan.

In 2019/20, all CSPs are receiving the same funding amount as they received in 2019/20, but the PCC has directed that their focus should be on delivering projects aligned to the Violence Reduction Challenge.

One third of the overall funding can be allocated to a tactical pot to deliver responsive projects aligned to the VRC throughout the financial year, with the PCC approving spend on these projects on submission of a suitable business case.

Other recipients of crime reduction grants include Kent County Council and Medway Council's youth offending teams and drug and alcohol action teams; and charities such as CrimeStoppers. Again, there will greater engagement and scrutiny on delivery and spend from the OPCC in 2019/20 compared with previous years.
