Home Office Perpetrator Programme Funding
In June 2021 the Home Office made funding available to PCCs to support the delivery of domestic abuse perpetrator focussed programmes in their areas. The total funding available was up to £11.1m. I worked closely with Kent Police, Kent County Council and Specialist Service providers to develop an evidence-based bid to this opportunity. I was subsequently successful in being awarded a grant of £378,967 to pilot the delivery of both DA and Stalking Perpetrator Programmes in Kent, alongside support for victims and their children.
The programme delivers the following,
DA Perpetrator Programme 1:1 x 40
Staking Perpetrator Programmes 1:1 x 40
DA Perpetrator Programme Groupwork x 10 groups consisting of 8 men.
Co-ordination functions, including a Victims Support Worker and Police Co-ordinator
Due to this being new service provision for Kent extensive promotion and awareness work has been undertaken. There has also been a clear structure set up for managing the referrals and delivery of this service so that risk and safeguarding of the victims is managed effectively. It is still early in the development of the programme but so far there have been over 50 referrals into the programmes with 3 fully completing the course.
