Oxleas NHS welcomed Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott on a visit to the Bracton Centre in Dartford.
Mr Scott was welcomed by Andy Trotter, Chair of Oxleas NHS; as well as Keith Soper, Director of Forensic and Prison Services; and Jane Wells, Director of Nursing. He then enjoyed a tour of the facilities and met with staff and patients.
As PCC, Mr Scott’s role is to set policing priorities for the county, by consulting with the public and putting together a Police and Crime Plan. He has a particular interest in mental health as the portfolio holder on the national Association of Police and Crime Commissioners.
Following the visit, he said:
'I have always been impressed by the dedication of the staff who work here and their commitment to supporting people who need some extra help. I think the facilities are really good and I’m really impressed with the emphasis on physical as well as mental wellbeing.'
Mr Trotter said:
'I was delighted to welcome Matthew Scott to the Bracton Centre and to show him the services we offer. He has a particular interest in mental health and we also had a very helpful and lively discussion around the review of the Mental Health Act.
'I would like to take this opportunity thank him and Kent Police for their continued excellent assistance to our staff.'
